Dr Xianshu Yang, 22+ years LC-MS/AS-MS experience

Xianshu Yang, Ph.D., is an AS-MS leader and currently an independent consultant focusing on drug discovery subject-matter. Until recently, he worked as a principal scientist/director within Merck research and development focusing on target protein-ligand interactions. He has supported many Merck discovery programs and preclinical candidate selections including eight clinical trial medicines. From 2002 to 2005, He was the leader of Automated Ligand Identification System (ALIS) HTS, a powerful & global leading AS-MS platform at NeoGenesis which provided CRO services with $ Million annual revenue. In an effort expanding AS-MS novel applications, he developed a novel platform for directly identifying active metabolites from in vitro and in vivo including tumor samples, which was selected as one of the top six technological advances featured by J. Med. Chem. 2017, 1−3. He also developed Cytosolic Proteome & Affinity-based Target Identification (CPATI). CPATI is an unbiased, label-free, and modification-free approach identifying phenotypic active hits engaged with a few specific target proteins from cytosolic mixture. This technology potentially provides a broad application in target and biomarker ID from cells and tissues. He was the receipt of multiple Merck innovation awards and an invited speaker at 2016 ASMS, 2019 Pittcon, and 2020 SLAS annual conferences.
